If you're looking for great Pho or Rice Wraps then Mr. Pho is the place.

The broth is nice and flavourful and always served piping hot.

The wraps are fresh and very tasty.

Food was just and barely just ok. Service was good but food was very average.  Fortunately, it was very inexpensive but would certainly not make the effort to go back here.

I had a late lunch here with my parents today.  My dad loved it, but my mom and I both thought it was just ok.  The prices can't be beat though.  They have the cheapest pho prices I've seen in Ottawa.

So for the pho, you get to choose the amount of toppings that you want (up to 6 toppings) and it's the same price (I'm guessing if you just choose one topping, they give you more of it, and if you choose the maximum 6 toppings, you get less of each).  They have 4 sizes: small, medium, large and extra large.

My dad got the large beef pho with all 6 toppings ($7.49), my mom got the small beef pho, also with all 6 toppings ($5.49) and I got the stir-fried beef and mushrooms ($7.75) with a bowl of steamed rice ($1).  I actually found it weird that my dish didn't come with any rice or noodles but whatever.  We also got their $5 appetizer special (you get 8 spring rolls - you can choose all shrimp, all pork, or 4 of each, which is what we got).

The sauce in my dish was really watery.  It looked more like a broth than a gravy.  The beef was thinly sliced and was tender and the mushrooms were just regular white mushrooms.  The dish was rather lacklustre.  It didn't have any oomph or real flavour.  It was just boring.  The rice was well done and you get an acceptable amount for $1.

My dad really liked the pho broth.  He said it was sweet, flavourful and tasted authentic.  My mom felt that it was better than most pho places in Orleans, probably the same as most pho places in Ottawa Chinatown, but doesn't even compare to most pho places in Toronto.  So considering this place is in Bells Corners, I guess my mom's comments are a compliment (?).  I didn't taste the pho, so I can't comment personally.  She did notice that the well done beef pieces were cut into cubes which is unusual because they are traditionally sliced.  She felt the meats could have been better.

The spring rolls were incredibly skinny.  The girth was not much bigger than my finger (and I have glove size 6.5 little girly hands!).  They were ok, but honestly, I mostly just tasted wrapper, the filling was oh so minimal.  The shrimp ones tasted better than the pork ones (which mostly tasted of vermicelli and vegetables).  They were crispy.  However, they were also very oily.

You get a pot of complimentary tea when you arrive.  You also write down your own order on the piece of paper that they give you.  Service was good.  As is in most Asian restaurants, the server will come over if you call for them, but they generally don't bother you during your meal.  It's not really customary for them to ask you how your meal is going.  It is assumed that if you need something, you will ask for it.  Our server was quick to come over when we needed him, but we didn't need him much.  We didn't finish our pot of tea, and each table has a bunch of cutlery on it in a stand at the corner (more than you need), so when I dropped a chopstick, I just got a new one myself.  The little cutlery stand also has lots of napkins and there's a bottle of Sriracha on each table.

Decor is pretty simple.  There's some Vietnamese art on the walls.  The restaurant looked clean.

Mr. Pho is in a strip mall, so there's lots of free parking.  It's in the same strip mall as East Side Mario's and Giant Tiger.

I'm undecided if I will return or not.  I think they are the only game in town when it comes to Vietnamese food in Bells Corners, so if you're in Bells Corners and have a hunkering for some Pho, Mr. Pho is it, but I think I would rather go to Chinatown, since it's just as far away from me as Bells Corners and there's more selection in Chinatown.

On a cold Canadian day in November, this is where you need to warm up.  Great food many options helpful staff if you are not sure what to get.  The menu is so large may need to go back many times to try it all.  Had the pho with beef, meat was tender broth just right and the portions are huge and filling.  Go get some they will not disappoint
